♥ case of basic specimen - smart plate

• 200x500x1.25 mm cantilevered aluminum plate
   on which the strain gauges (SGD-5/350-LY11,
  Omega Engineering) and MFC actuators
  (M8557P1MFC, Smart Materials) are bonded
signal conditioners (OM5-WBS-3-C, Omega
  Engineering) are converting strain gages bridge
  signals to high level and for bridge supply
TREK high voltage amplifiers (PA05039,
  —500 V÷ +1500V) for the MFC actuators supply
• PC with implemented control laws in LabView:
   robust LQG/LTR or robust H control
Data Acquisition Card (NI PCIe-6259) used for
  processing the signals from conditioners and for
  applying to the MFC actuator the control signal,
  amplified by the high voltage amplifiers
• the first four natural frequencies (Hz): 5, 26, 31,
  157, pseudo-identification by impulse excitation

case of an Eppler 211 airfoil

• semi-span – 650 mm, chord – 200 mm
• wing skin: composite material E-glass
  texture/orto- ophatlic resin, 4 layers and
  0.14 mm thicknes each
wing spars placed at 30%, respectively, 65% of
  chord, made of the same material
• the skin and the spars are ANSYS modeled as shell
  99-2D–element
• wing equivalent E = 9.28X109 N/mp
• the first three natural frequencies (Hz) and 
  modes:
  21 (bending), 108 (yaw), 128 (bending), pseudo-
  identification by impulse excitation
• two pairs of collocated MFC- 8557 S1, a pair for
  excitation and a pair for control; thermal analogy is
  used for modeling
TREK high voltage amplifiers (PA05039,
  –500 V÷+1500V) for the MFC actuators supply
accelerometer B&K
• a PC with implemented control laws in LabView:
   robust LQG/LTR or robust control
 

case of 2DOF system with active control

• the rigidity is simulated by a pair of identical
  cantilevered plates, which supports the so-called
  S-shape plates deformation, thus ensuring a plane-
  parallel movement of the masses (and a very good
  guide, implicitly)
• excitation actuator — VTS 75M Modal Test System
• excitation actuator — electrohydraulic servo
